It is a great honor to hold in your hands dirt from Ro and Strongyli and flags that waved on these two wonderful border islands of ours. It is difficult to describe the emotion when you are trusted with such a small, but so precious part of our country.
I sincerely thank the Commander of the 95 ADTE, Major General Konstantinos Alexandris, for this special honor, in recognition of my timeless contribution to the work of the Armed Forces. I accept it with deep emotion and with the thought that the greatest "thank you" we owe it.
Because behind these flags are the people who hoist them, guard them and serve under their colors. People who spend holidays, nights and family moments away from their own, so that we can feel safe close to our own.
For us islanders, the presence of the Greek Army is a daily support. We know the responsibility that his people bear, their dedication, their readiness to stand by our society when there is a need. And we have them deep in our hearts.
